ROMAN

One of the most popular blinds. The Roman blind, with its flat panels when down but with its soft cascading folds when the blind is pulled up, creates a neat and tidy look over any window.

Davina’s Roman blinds are hand sewn and can be made out of your own choice of fabric, with blackout lining for added sun damage protection, and for those wanting a fuller, weightier look, interlining can also be added. Interlining is best described as a blanket layered between your chosen fabric and the lining. Its main purpose many years ago was to help exclude draft, but nowadays, thanks to improved insulating methods drafts are seldom an issue and the interlining is purely aesthetic. Choose from either a fabric-covered wooden baton headrail with acorn & cleat or a rotary headrail system with beaded chain.

AUSTRIAN / FESTOON

These blinds were one of the first forms of drapery that were functionally successful. They were in fact pull-up floor length curtains. They are operated by equally spaced cords, that when pulled not only raise the blind but also create soft swags and are hung from either a fabric covered wooden batton headrail with acorn and cleat or a metal rotary headrail system with a beaded chain. Nowadays, there are many different variations of gathred headings used such as pencil pleat, goblet, triple pleat and puffed, which can be made up with either scooped up or dropped down sides. These blinds are hand sewn and can be made out of your own choice of fabric, with blackout lining for added sun damage protection and daylight control. However a lightweight fabric such as silk works best. The hem and side edges often work well having a fringing, which helps define each of the swags. They are often made longer than the length of the window so that when pulled down it still displays the swag effect along the bottom.

The difference between an Austrian and a Festoon is that the Festoon is also gathered along each of the vertical cords.

LONDON

This blind is less fussy than the Austrian / Festoon blinds simply by not having a gathered heading, but it still has the same principle of having equally spaced vertical cords that create soft swags. This blind is hand sewn and can be made out of your own choice of fabric, with blackout lining for added sun damage protection and daylight control. The blind is often made longer than the length of the window so that when pulled down it still displays the swag effect along the bottom, rather than being a flat piece of fabric with no interesting detail.

Choose from either a fabric-covered wooded batton headrail with acorn and cleat or a metal rotary headrail system with beaded chain.

Nothing appeals to our senses more than the natural beauty and warmth of wood.

The wooden Venetian blind collection offers three different slat widths for varying light control and comes in a range of natural wood or painted neutral colours. For a perfect colour match to your existing interior, you can have your blind custom painted, with matching wooden toggle accessories. Why not personalise your blind by adding a decorative fabric tape. Some of the tape colours blend in with the overall look while others create accents that stand out to make a statement of their own. Either way, they add a touch of glam that conceal the vertical cords that operate the blind. Further options include electric control mechanism, bathroom solutions to stop warping of wood, colour coordinated headrail valances with mitred returns, or for a sleek more daring look, why not try the aluminium headrail valance with curved returns, matching aluminium toggle and bottom rail for eye catching detail.

With just a light pull on the toggle, you can incline the horizontal slats so that more or less light passes through in to your room. And the handy power rise remote control allows you to alter the degree of light access with ease. Alternatively, by the pull of another cord you can house the whole of the blind with all of its slats at the top of your window.

The charm of the metal Venetian blind lies in its versatility. It works just like a wooden Venetian. With just a quick twist of the wand, you can incline the horizontal slats so that more or less light passes through to your room. By keeping them closed you can keep out the heat of a blazing summers day, or angle them to make the most of a subdued wintery afternoon. Alternatively, by the pull of a cord you can house the whole of the blind with all of its slats at the top of your window.

These blinds offer five slat widths and a wide range of colours and finishes. The colours can be mixed and matched, allowing you to insert different coloured slats on top of each other.
